The natural beauty of the area, characterized by the magnificent rocky surface of Mt. Mukabaki, is where the brewery single-mindedly devoted themselves to creating local beer, winning the highest prizes in numerous beer competitions.
The brewery was originally founded in July 1996 by Nishida, a petrol wholesale and retail company. With no brewing know-how or background whatsoever, the new business made its own history through trials and errors. In 2006, after the brewery succeeded in independently cultivating yeast, which it had hitherto bought from yeast growers, their beer quality dramatically advanced.
In November 2010, President Tokihiko Nagano, who was the head of the beer division, became independent of the business transfer, and started the re-start as “Miyazaki Hideji Beer”.
Its main year-round items feature Taiyo No Lager (beer of the Sun) and three other regular brews, while limited releases of Kongetsu No Kuradashi (monthly special), Mango Lager (for summer only) and Stout (winter only) make up a popular lineup. Since the incorporation as an independent company, the brand has continued developing ambitious products, such as: a set of three sparkling wines made of local fruits of Miyazaki under Miyazaki Agricultural Support Project; Hokura Kin Nama, a beer made of barley harvested in the town of Takaharu; and YAHAZU, a 100% locally produced brew, including the beer tank, yeast, malt, and the entire brewing process.
Kuri Kuro, a beer exclusively developed for overseas market, was awarded the World’s Best Stout & Porter at World Beer Awards 2017.
