It is a spiritual site, so-called “power spot” in Japanese-English. It is located in Houri district in Kitagawa town of Nobeoka city. Its Iwakura, dwelling place of a god, is regarded as one of the nation’s most historical heritages. Climbing 240 steps surrounded by a bamboo forest will bring visitors there. Overlapped 2 gigantic stones make a cavern with 24 meters high and 30 meters wide. On the base, a pyramid-shaped holy stone is located. It is originally an ancient cave monument in Jomon period and has been enshrined as Hourigawa river shrine in some periods in history.
